One of Kabul's few tourist attractions - The Wall of Kabu

One of Kabul's few tourist attractions - The Wall of Kabul - is probably also one of the few testaments to its history as one of the oldest cities in Central and South Asia. Though the the story of the wall is as much archaeological fact as it is myth, it is said that the structure is from the time of King Zamburak Shaw in the 6th Century. The ruthless (non-Muslim) leader and his brother, Zanbilak put his male subjects to work on the wall in order to keep invading Muslims out. When the men became sick or too weak to continue working, it is said that they were killed and buried within the wall itself - in parts at least ten feet thick. That was until the labourers rose up and killed the King as he inspected construction one day, dealing out some poetic justice by doing with his corpse what had been done to many, at his behest.
